New Year, Looks Like the Old Year

I’m at a loss of interesting content to blog about at the moment. A few shorts perhaps, I’m also up to my eyeballs this week in meetings, all of them, you guessed it, Masonic in nature.
Some shorts from the land of ice and snow, and the smallest 4 team Major Sports Market in the country. Today we had news from all 4!

1) Carl Pohlad, local banking mogul and Twins owner has passed away. Sad for his family, not the greatest owner baseball has ever seen. This is the guy who got caught trying to have his team contracted out of existence so he could make a buck on the deal. Cheapskate on the payroll, and he introduced that crappy mascot.
2) Vikes lose in the first round of the playoffs. Vikings fans- I hate to tell you this but this years performance.. this is about as good as it’s going to get fans. 10 and 6 in the worst division in football is it. What have we learned about this team? We have the best defensive line in football, no question. We have OK receivers. We have a shitty QB, who continues to be shitty, and we have a coach… we have a one of the worst coaches in the NFL, a guy who most weeks gets outcoached hands down, and if it weren’t for the best running back in the game.. would score 7 points a game. Why so bad? Predictable offense, poor clock management, stupid play calls, it’s going to be frustrating until we make some changes around here.
3) The Timberwolves have put together 3 game winning streak, they’ve now won more games in their last 6 games than the previous 27.
4) Wild, on the fast track to nowhere. First place to last in the same season…

In the meantime, the days are getting longer. I noticed on my way out of the parking lot this evening that the sun hadn’t quite gone down… I guess I can put the SADD light away now. :)
The ice fishing season in full swing. I’m planning on a couple more trips before the “hard water” season is over and revert back to “open water”. Eric.. you need to try this and get out.
Looks like Al Franken is going to be our US Senatro. Al F’n Franken. Al amde teh comment that Minnesota showed the world that we value democracy. Actually I’d argue that we look at the whole process as a joke. Remember Jessie Ventura. Frankly I’m so sick of this that I could care less. Minnesota, we suck.
I liked listening to the newsheads talking about the concern that Minnesota only has one Senator representing us. We could be missing out something. That would assume that the Senate actually does something good that we’re going to miss out on.. I
