Off to the lake for the weekend. Last weekend it was the dudes, this weekend couples. The intent for the weekend was a chance to do some fall stuff, hike in the woods. Take a fall pontoon ride, you know, enjoy the great out doors.
Our weather here in the north country changed this week. As it does only in this part of the world it changed at exactly 11:50pm on Wednesday October 3rd. Wednesday afternoon it 80 degrees around here. Thursday afternoon they got 6 inches of snow in northern Minnesota. While we weren’t treated to that little seasonal joy down in the Cities, it did get cold. Cold enough that I was looking for my hat and coat on Thursday morning.
Against that back drop we went to the lake where…
It was cold. It is cold, what the hell, I’m still here and it’s freaking cold up here. And it was snowing, at least last night it was. Snowing. Did you notice that it’s October freak’n 6th this morning?
I know, Sank, you always say you like winter. I do, I don’t mind winter; snow, cold.. not a big fan of wind but you know.. But I happen to like winter in winter, not in fall. Not in early fall. Not 14 days after summer ends.
It’s supposed to get better next week, up to the 60′s. But for this weekend there will be 6 adults and 15 year old girl hanging in small cabin, playing cards and trying to think of shit to do.
I hope we’re all still friends when this is over. There’s about 5 bottles of booze on the counter that tell me we probably will. As long the food and the cards hold out.
And the movies.
And the coffee.
Hmm, weekend hanging out watching movies, drinking coffee and playing cards. I take it back, as they say around here, “A guy could do worse than that.”
