We Are (‘t) Cooking Now

Fact is I’ve been a little off my game I the kitchen department, who am I kidding, I’ve put the game in the closet and popped myself a beer. I ain’t mak’n shit these days. I feel like I’ve made everything worth making in the last few months.

Twice.

Three times for some things.

And I’m sick of them. Sick of everything about right now for some reason. Last week a local grocer sent me a booklet of “fast” recipes, all stuff that used all of their house branded products. Easy stuff like orange chicken, you heat up a bag of their chicken nuggets it the oven, toss them in some orange marmalade, apple cider vinegar, honey and some ginger powder and serve the mess over rice. Total time to prepare 20 minutes from thought to service. Nutritional value was nil, but it was certainly kid friendly. Daughter in particular loved it.

Another one, again with the frozen chicken. Crispy (fried) chicken strips baked and sliced up. Served in a tortilla with coleslaw and some BBQ sauce dribbled over the top. I’m not gonna like it was pretty decent. This took about 15 minutes to make. Nutritional value, 0.0. Except for the spinach salad I made with each dish you might have starved do death while putting on 20 lbs if that makes sense.

So that’s where I’m at cooking wise, serving camp food.

.

I also am feeling especially pressed for time these days so you know, I cutting corners. The other good news about the book, coupons.

Remember, I’m into coupons now.

BTW, Misery week for Mrs S this week. She’s suffered from a migraine, a head cold, laryngitis, and finally pink eye. She’s miserable. Maybe a turkey sandwich for dinner will help. ; ; ;

  1. Don’t beat yourself up on this….it is grill season. Just plop a steak over the flame and you’re good. Well, open that beer first.

  2. jeez. Your bad meals are like gourmet to me and my frozen pizzas… And you aren’t kidding about the 20 lbs biz.

  3. Sorry things are tough, but I still like the way you wrote it! Ever tried the submerging your arms in hot water trick for the migraine? I’m curious to know if it works.

  4. We’ve been in the same boat – got some new ideas though….smoked turkey, gyro’s, rissotto stuffed peppers, venision stroganoff, cataplana, etc…let me know if you need more:)

    I’m with Reuben. Your “lazy” meals are better than what I make a lot of nights.

Lemmie know what you think..
