Diversity Training Time

Whilst I was out of the office yesterday, in observance of the Jewish Holiday I received an email from an HR person about the disposition of some candidates for a position which had been posted. One of the candidates was inquiring about when s/he would be receiving feedback about their interview. The HR department was trying to reach me all morning, and was finally informed by my team that I was out of the office for the day for Rosh Hashanah.

When I got back in the office this morning there was an email from HR with the following message.

We have followed up with your candidates, have their background information for you and have completed all of the interview schedules, except for one. I can not find any background on candidate Rosh Hashanah.. Apparently he or she is not in our system. Can you please let me know where I can find Rosh’s resume? Is he or she an external candidate?

Seriously.

Getting back in the office and reading this I about died. I called HR and explained the situation, nicely, that there wasn’t really a candidate named Rosh Hashanah, rather that was a holiday and blah blah… The person on the other end of the line, clearly well trained in covering up responded.. with. “Oh I must be confused with a different Rosh”.

I see. Well if you happen to come across a fellow named Yom Kippur, I’m not interviewing him either.

  1. What type of position would Rosh be applying for? And isn’t Yom is scheduled to interview next week.

    Too funny.

  2. Wonder if they ever get Chris Mas wrong in the same way?

  3. Ken Wedding

I haven’t laughed so hard for a long time. Thanks for sharing.

(And get HR some diversity training. There’s at least one person who needs some serious help.)

  4. She’s a little late, but my friend L’Shana Tova is stopping by to pick up an application. ;)

    Happy belated New Year, Sank!

Lemmie know what you think..
